Dr. Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir

Dr. Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir comes of a respectable family of Kachua, Chandpur. Dr. Alamgir holds a Master's degree in economics from Dhaka University, a Master's in development economics from Boston University, and a Ph.D in economics from Boston University. He is a prominent economist, civil servant, writer, and political leader in Bangladesh. He began his professional career in 1962, by joining the economics faculty at the University of Dhaka. He taught at the university until 1965. Joining the civil service that year, he served in numerous positions, for a total of 32 years. He worked as Managing Director of Shilpa Bank and Chairman of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh. He also worked as Chairman of BKB and BSRS and Executive Director of Islamic Development Bank. He held several positions with the different Ministries, in addition to regional posts. He was also State Minister for Planning and Cabinet Minister for Home Affairs to the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. He was President of Bangladesh Economic Association. He is a life member of Bangla Academy.
